I did take a fairly
moderate line on this one rather than simply going off. But if we were to be
speaking over beers? Well...children would run in fear.

The LDS Church is desperately trying to seem more "mainstream" and
"appealing" to it's audience and observers. I think it's really time to
encourage people to start visiting the roots of this Corporate Religion. Or
to look towards Bonneville International and other holdings.

Free-Agency is laughable, otherwise the LDS leadership would have let the
people decide this as "God's Will" rather than pouring money, bodies and
threats into its defeat. If there's evil in this world, religions such as
this are forming it in their own image.

I'm sure this won't be the last time I talk about this...and I will
certainly loosen my tongue a bit more. Heheheh.

I WANT to see that letter!

Re: A Very Sad Day…

The Bible is a lost book when compared to what we know is right; especially
when we take those comparisons and look at them from another point of
view...with compassion.

Besides, it's fairly well proven that the first book of the NT was written
decades after Christ's death...and None of them were written by the people
who actually witnessed the events in question. It's a historical piece of
Fiction...but nothing to establish a Government upon.

Re: A Very Sad Day…

I agree.

And here come the lawsuits...

http://www.mercurynews.com/breakingnews/ci_1090...

http://www.contracostatimes.com/california/ci_1...

Re: A Very Sad Day…

Dude,

You were much more polite than I am going to be. I have been working on letter that is going to a few SLC papers as well as some Idaho papers and our local paper asking Mormons how they justify the meddling of the church in these matters. There was a very large disagreement within the church over this--witness the headlines of Steve Young posting an anti-8 sign on his lawn.

This one is not going to rest easy for the church. The tide is turning and their leaders, like those of any religion, know that if the people disagree, you have a problem.

Dailykos picked this up as well and even got copies of the internal memorandums of the Church (Dallin Oaks and M. Russell Ballard) discussing the growing support for gay marriage in California and how they could quietly intercede clear back in 1997.

I think they mussed up on this one. I think their members are going to be hounded about bias and bigotry. I know I am going to hound them here. :)

After all, they claim to have voted down "Satan's plan" in the preexistence so they could come here to be "tested", but now they are trying to re-create that very same plan here on earth.

Stand up and shout!

Re: A Very Sad Day…

Well said my friend. Well said. The those that oppose same sex marriage do so out of insecurity and fear. Fear that their way isn't the "right way" because there are other ways. If someone elses way works they then have to question their way of living. And do due to their own insecurity, that makes them uncomfortable and squirm within their own beliefs. So they hide behind religion and call it "morality". Well folks, self-righteousness is not religion. What's interesting is that in the New Testament Jesus was suspiciosly quiet about the subject of homosexuality. Most of his followers were too. Only Paul had issues with it, and he was intolerant of everyone not exactly like himself. It's also Paul's writings that uber-Christians always refer to when clubbing gays over the head with the Bible. 1 of 12... Hmmm... Wonder which side Jesus was really on.

Re: A Very Sad Day…

I for one did voice my opinion yesterday.
